I’ve been creating images since 2004, when I first began exploring the world through the lens of a homemade pinhole camera. Hours spent in darkrooms taught me to be still, to notice the quiet details, and to fall in love with the slow, intentional process of making something by hand. That early relationship with film shaped how I see: with patience, with curiosity, and with deep reverence for imperfection.
After earning my BA in Photography from Indiana University in 2008, I deepened my practice through wedding photography learning to follow emotion, anticipate movement, and find meaning in fleeting moments.
Today, my work lives at the intersection of narrative, conceptual, and documentary photography. I’m drawn to natural light, textures, reflections, movement, and emotion. I often use glass or crystal to refract light, adding dimension and atmosphere. Each reflective piece is only used once and discarded so your images are unique to you. Whether we're outdoors chasing golden hour or indoors surrounded by soft ambient glow, I let light guide the mood.
Every session begins with a conversation, an invitation to share your vision, your story, and the way you want to be seen. From there, we co-create something intentional, intuitive, raw, and real. My goal is to make images that don’t just capture how you look, but how it felt to be there - images that hold meaning, and reflect you fully.
What to Expect From Your Images When Working With Me:
• Grain – organic, textured atmosphere reminiscent of film
• Chromatic Aberrations – subtle color fringing for dreamy, analog character
• Intentional Light Refraction – creative use of prisms, glass, or natural flares
• Artistic Color Grading – tones curated for emotion, mood, and narrative
• Textural Qualities – visual grit that gives the image depth and soul
• Motion Blur – a painterly sense of movement
• Reflections – layers and stories using glass, mirrors, or water
• Nostalgia – timeless, cinematic feelings evoked through visual tone
• Mood Over Perfection – the vibe leads, not the pixels
• Playful Experimentation – I follow intuition and creativity over strict rules
• Atmospheric Softness – a touch of haze, glow, or softness where it fits
• Intentional Overexposure – skies may be blown out or highlights brightened to evoke softness, dreaminess, or emotional haze
• Purposeful Underexposure – shadows may deepen to sculpt outlines, isolate form, or invite mystery and mood
• Sun Rays – natural light beams used as compositional elements to evoke warmth, drama, or magic
What Not to Expect From My Images:
• Clinical Sharpness – I don’t pursue pixel perfection
• Crisp Detail in Every Frame – I favor feeling over hyper-clarity
• Well-Defined Edges – softness and blur may replace sharp lines
• True-to-Life Color Grading – unless we plan for it, realism is not my default
• Neutral Lighting – I use light expressively, not necessarily “correctly”
• Highly Retouched Skin – I embrace natural texture and imperfections
• Commercial Gloss – if you want ad-agency polish, I may not be your fit
• Safe Composition – rules are tools, not boundaries
• Perfect Uniformity – each image is its own moment, not a carbon copy
• Perfect Exposure Balance – I don’t aim to expose “by the book,” I expose for feeling
• Flawless, Controlled Lighting – I welcome the unpredictability of sunlight and natural elements
